Korfball!

Hello hello,

For the past 3 days I've been playing a game called korfball. It's like netball except with different hoops and small changes to the rules. The focus is to quickly pass the ball to your teammates to score a hoop while avoiding your opponents. There is an extra 5 meters more field at the back of the hoop so that you can go behind the hoop making it easier to get rebounds. The hoops were quite strange. They were tall and the top was yellow. The ball was made of some kind of rubber, looked like a somewhat soccer ball and was very bouncy. The field you play on is usually 40 metres long and 20 metres wide. Each team has 4 boys and 4 girls but we played with 2 boys and 2 girls. It's fun. The only problem I had was my teammates doing long shots and basically giving the ball to our opponents XP. I had a fun time passing the ball around and shooting it in. The guy who was teaching us was very good at what he did in my opinion, his name was Uri.

Eel Scientist visit

A few days ago an eel scientist came into my class. He talked to us. 
 I mean wow right! There's one thing you need to know though, Eels are amazing creatures right? Well our Urban eels AKA Long fin eels are close to endangered and we need to help them.
Urban eels are native to New Zealand and are only in New Zealand cool right?
There is a stereotype that eels are gross and slimy. Well no, yes about the slimy but, they're not as bad as people may think they are and they don't bite unless you are provoking the eels. And they're kinda cute as well. Here are some pollution that may get it: Zinc off metal roofs, Copper of disk brakes, dog poo, Car wash, plant repellent, rubbish, etc. Mega gross. And poor Edward the eel has to swim in it everyday.

Learning about South Sudan with Janet & Phill.

Hello again,

Today in the morning we gathered in room 5 to listen to Janet and Phil they work in Southern Sudan and were glad to share information about it. Here's some facts: Only had long drop toilets, literally a hole in the ground. The people of South Sudan couldn't ride in a vehicle on the road because of too many thieves, which means they had to fly. A problem with that, there were only 4 planes. The people like to dance commonly by jumping. The people liked having pictures taken of them. Cows are like money to them. People at South Sudan write songs about their cattle, name them etc. and also, the boys that protect the cows have guns. Guns are very easily sold at South Sudan and the gun that they use is the deadly AK-47. South Sudan's people are very poor so there are many thieves that'll kill you for your money or cattle. 🔫 Most tribe buildings were built on tall hills so that they could see their enemies coming. 🔭 They had Ful to eat Mashed fava beans with a tomato and chilli sauce. Jibna Salaata: Salad of feta-like crumbly cheese, tomato and cucumber. Dura: Cooked maize or millet eaten with various vegetables. Kawari: Soup comprising boiled-down sheep or cow hooves with vegetables and spices.

An Eel of a Place

Last Thursday the Batten team & Hilary hub went on a field trip to see some eels, learn about eels and do activities around eels. It was really fun.  Really < Get it? Say it to yourself! Anyway that day we got into 5 groups I was in group 4. The activities we had to do were rather easy. On one we got a bowl of nice clean water then put whatever might fall into our storm water into it. Here are some: Zinc off metal roofs, Copper of disk brakes, dog poo, Car wash, plant repellent, rubbish, etc. Mega gross. And poor Edward the eel has to swim in it everyday. :] Yeah, nah. Ew. \_(ツ)_/
